Never have I ever been to to the Angelika Movie Center in Merrifield. Hannah and I decided to go see Anna Karenina last week. We were originally going to hit up the local Fairfax theater, but decided to go wild and go to the new swanky theater in Merrifield. The whole place is super modern. You walk in and there is a cafe with beer, wine, and espresso. Then you go to buy your ticket and you have to choose a seat on the screen, much like an airplane. I don’t really get the whole concept of assigned seats, especially in the middle of the day when it’s not very busy, but it was still fun.
There was also a concierge desk upstairs next to the concessions area. Hannah and I tried to decide what on earth you would ask the concierge. For a movie review? Where the bathroom was? Who really knows.
We went inside and found our assigned seats. A woman and her elderly mother came in to sit behind us. The mother fell as she was coming into the row. Everyone collectively gasped and the daughter screamed “Ay, caramba!” amazing.
The movie was so good. A little sad, but really well done. I loved that the movie felt like it was within a play. Note to self- never cheat on your husband because it will make your life completely terrible forever.
